Individual Learning

From the outset, we were passionate that we wanted a cutting edge curriculum that allowed us to support every child as an individual.

A curriculum that brought learning to life and engaged students, regardless of age or ability. A curriculum that took learning beyond the basics, to help our members in the real world.

We all know that children love computers, and these days so do schools. The school curriculum now places a key focus on the use of technology in education. We’ve been doing exactly that for the past 15 years in the United Kingdom and in Texas. With innovation at the heart of our company visions & values, we have come a long way.

Our Curriculum

Our cutting edge curriculum combines the best of both digital and traditional learning methods.

We’re lucky enough to have worked closely with Pearson & the Waterford Learning Institute to develop amazing interactive “textbooks”, that take learning beyond the confines of a book. Using a combination of sound, animation, and progressive and iterative learning, these brilliant tools allow us to help children of all learning styles, ages, and abilities. Developed over more than 40 years, they allow us to create a unique learning pathway for every child that perfectly complements the school curriculum here in Texas.

For our older students or those who can be extended beyond 8th grade, we use a self-directed learning tool called IXL, so students can choose the areas they need support with or want to revise. 1 in 10 US students already have access to this tool at school and it is used in over 195 countries, making it the very best of the best! Alongside our skilled tutors, who give that extra explanation, support, and encouragement, it is the perfect tool for our young adults to guide their own learning in the best way for them.

Your student can also continue their learning at home with our Explorer Math online tool, which is available throughout their membership. This is a great way for them to revise key concepts such as times tables and telling the time, allowing them to practice the new skills they have learned with their tutors. Independence is the true test for our fearless learners!

Specialist Courses

Additionally, we offer a dedicated problem solving and logical reasoning program called Enhanced Math.

This unique program has been designed to stretch budding mathematicians beyond the limits of the school curriculum. Our problem solving enrichment classes tackle high level problems and strategies which promote mathematical thinking and inquiry, similar to Advanced Placement and Gifted & Talented programs at school. Students will become more confident and competent mathematicians, prepared for the challenges of the STAAR tests and much more.

Shayam progress graph
Shayam started attending Explore in 4th grade, when his parents became concerned that he was not being challenged at school. Their primary goals were to keep him ahead, motivated, and ready to rise to a challenge. Here at Explore, we found that he was working significantly above expectations for his age. Through the support and intervention of our tutors and the challenge provided by our curriculum, Shayam continued to develop at a faster rate than school alone, reaching 7th grade work and making over 18 months progress in a year.

Explore Horizions has helped me greatly in maths and reading. I like Explore or all the challenging things they give me to learn from.

As a parent I truly appreciate how involved the tutors are with each child. My two boys have learned so much since they started going to Explore Horizons.

Laura bar chart
Laura has been attending Explore for a few months to give her a boost at school. She is in 2nd grade and has dyslexia, so she specifically struggles in reading, but she also finds it challenging to retain concepts in math. When she practices new skills from the classroom at home, she struggles to recall the steps she needs to take and the basic math facts that she needs to use. Explore has helped Laura to cover more topics in math, and worked on revising to improve her retention of these topics. Laura’s teacher sees her hand go up often in class now that she is becoming more confident in her own abilities, and her homework is not such a drag anymore!

Laura is very bright but can lack focus. The tutors along with the center directors are phenomenal with her, giving her enough encouragement to motivate her.

Zara's progress report
Zara has only been attending Explore for about 3 months, spending about 20 hours with our tutors so far. Since starting school this year, Zara has been struggling to keep up with her classmates, and mom finds it hard to work with her at home as she is reluctant to practice and sometimes lacks focus. Through our rigorous assessment, we found that Zara was lacking some of the Pre-K recommended basics in math before she entered school in Kindergarten, such as counting, making groups, and recognizing shapes. We focused on filling those gaps, getting her up to speed, and building her confidence and concentration. Zara is now on track for mid-way through Kinder, but her parents are excited to work with us to maintain her progress, continue to develop positive learning behaviors, and get her ahead.

Explore Horizons caters to my daughter’s needs which has contributed a lot to her doing well in school. The staff listen well to both the parents and children and take on board the child’s experience of the service. Definitely would recommend.

Arman's progress graph
Arman's has always been a good student, keeping on track with school expectations for his age. As he looks forward to entering high school, he and his parents wanted to boost his skills and confidence to give him a head start. They also wanted to develop the learning behaviors and attitudes which are central to success at high school, such as organization, note-taking, and research. Arman exceeded the expectations for his achievement in 6th Grade math with the help of dedicated Explore tutors. He also developed his strategies through attending the “Advanced Writing & Study Skills” class. Arman is excited to get even further ahead in 7th Grade before starting high school!

Since he has been coming, I have seen him more comfortable in tackling hard tasks and focussing more, instead of feeling anxious.
