Our Results

Each child is unique and individual, we all are. For that reason, we believe that every child should be supported and celebrated, not based on other students, age or grade levels, but based on them. This approach means we can support your child’s confidence as well as their academic progress.

Since 2001, our professional educators have been taking it “above and beyond the grade”, creating connections with students and developing individual learning plans to help students succeed. Our systematic evaluations help us assess impact on outcomes so together we can track your child’s improvements over time.

Let us help your child shine tomorrow, by becoming a fearless learner today.

Student Success

Arman's progress graph
Arman's has always been a good student, keeping on track with school expectations for his age. As he looks forward to entering high school, he and his parents wanted to boost his skills and confidence to give him a head start. They also wanted to develop the learning behaviors and attitudes which are central to success at high school, such as organization, note-taking, and research. Arman exceeded the expectations for his achievement in 6th Grade math with the help of dedicated Explore tutors. He also developed his strategies through attending the “Advanced Writing & Study Skills” class. Arman is excited to get even further ahead in 7th Grade before starting high school!

Since he has been coming, I have seen him more comfortable in tackling hard tasks and focusing more, instead of feeling anxious.

Mason's progress graph
Mason and his family first encountered Explore through the Young Mathematicians’ Award, where Mason was part of his school team who entered and reached the final. Mason's parents didn’t need support for Mason, but they were inspired to fuel his love of learning and challenge him further at Explore. Mason joined the “Enhanced Math” class where he encountered high level problem solving to stretch his mind. He was already a great reader, but he was excited to be able to encounter a vast range of texts at Explore which were not limited to his grade level. Through the support and encouragement of our tutors, Mason further increased his abilities, progressing over 18 months in ability over 12 months of attendance.

I first considered Explore Horizons because I was concerned that Mason might get bored with school. I wanted him to be able to do well in her classes and any tests. Over the past year, Mason has excelled in all areas, and is never reluctant to come Explore.  (A substantial achievement for any pre-teen activity!)  The curriculum and teaching methodology keep pushing Mason forward, and is making a difference in his development and confidence.

Craig's progress report
Craig's teacher recommended getting some additional support as he was falling behind the other students in his 1st grade class. Craig has ADHD and found sitting down to concentrate for an hour to be a real challenge. Our flexible environment and inspiring tutors have helped him develop more effective strategies for concentrating, and he has far exceeded his expected annual progress to nearly be back on track with his peers!

Craig has an increased confidence in his approach to answering questions and will try to work things out where previously he would have got frustrated and upset. The staff are always on hand to help and are very thorough in the reporting of our child’s progress.

Craig's Mom
Zara's progress report
Zara has only been attending Explore for about 3 months, spending about 20 hours with our tutors so far. Since starting school this year, Zara has been struggling to keep up with her classmates, and mom finds it hard to work with her at home as she is reluctant to practice and sometimes lacks focus. Through our rigorous assessment, we found that Zara was lacking some of the Pre-K recommended basics in math before she entered school in Kindergarten, such as counting, making groups, and recognizing shapes. We focused on filling those gaps, getting her up to speed, and building her confidence and concentration. Zara is now on track for mid-way through Kinder, but her parents are excited to work with us to maintain her progress, continue to develop positive learning behaviors, and get her ahead.

Explore Horizons caters to my daughter’s needs which has contributed a lot to her doing well in school. The staff listen well to both the parents and children and take on board the child’s experience of the service. Definitely would recommend.

Independent Results & Awards

In 2011 the University of Reading carried out an independent study of Explore Learning our UK parent company. This study set out to assess the impact that attending Explore has on children’s progress both academically and attitudinally. The study ran for an academic year and compared over 1,500 of our children to a similar sized external control group. We also gained feedback from over 1,200 parents, discussing their child’s progress.

We are proud of the results and wanted to share the main findings with you.

  • On the whole, this research shows that Explore is beneficial to both boys and girls, of all abilities, across all age ranges, living in all socio-economic areas.
  • Explore members’ improvement in math was 30% higher than that of the comparison group after controlling for gender, age, year group and special educational needs.
  • Explore members significantly improved their SAS [Standardised Age Scores] in Progress in English and Progress in Math between the two tests.
  • Building confidence, overcoming shyness to put up their hand to ask for help, being more independent and less reluctant to try without assistance, were all elements that parents recognized in their children and directly attributed to Explore.

How our members feel

We enrolled our son, Vincent, at the Alliance center in late October. He was having a lot of problems with school, and was significantly below grade level. Homework was a nightmare, because he would just give up if he couldn’t figure something out.  After being at Explore Horizons for the past three months, however, his grades and his confidence have improved dramatically. He is almost back to grade level, and he looks forward to his visits there; so much so he says he wishes he could just go there instead of school!

Corey, Parent

I absolutely love Explore Horizons. My son Jim has been with them since the very first center they opened in the US (Colleyville TX) the personnel have been so amazing since we started. Jimmy loves it and looks forward to go every single week.  He started in a kindergarden level and in 9 months he is at 1st grade level. James is only 5 and is currently in Pre-k at school. Super advanced thanks to Explore Horizons.

Ana, Parent

I am so glad I found Explore Horizons! In the short time we’ve been here my daughter has shown great progress. The staff is amazing, and the energy in this place is a breath of fresh air. My daughter loves coming in for her tutoring sessions, she has fun learning and the staff members make it so it doesn’t feel like work at all. That’s no easy task with children. If you are looking for a great tutoring center for your child, Explore Horizons is the place! Their center hours are so convenient, even open on the weekends!

Our Awards

Our parent company Explore Learning in the United Kingdom has won numerous awards for their excellence in the field of education. This is one of the main reasons that we wanted to expand our unique tutoring concept to more children across the world. Dallas / Fort Worth Texas is the first step in our international journey. In Texas we are offering the same great tutoring experience, but adapted to the Texan curriculum, so we are confident that in a few years time we will have countless awards of our own to brag about!
